M744 Stick Barometer

Mahogony ship′s barometer with gimbal mount and ivory scales. The top plate signed P. P. Gally, London (Paul and Peter Gally were working from 1809-1861 at various addresses in London as looking glass and picture frame makers as well as barometer makers).

The brass cistern and the gimbal both have old lacquer, and the barometer, when mounted, hangs about 8 inches from the wall, and swings though 360°. There is a bone knob just below the scale for moving the vernier, and an alcohol thermometer.
