A slim, pale mahogany ship's barometer, with an opening door concealing a thermometer on an ivory scale, and the top scale of the barometer with an externally operated vernier. It is mounted on a (replaced) brass gimbal which allows it to stand out from the wall, and to remain vertical as the ship rocks backwards and forwards, as well as from side to side; this makes reading the height of the mercury column easier!
